Corporal Mike Johnson began his law enforcement career in 1997 after serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Cpl. Johnson started his law enforcement career at the City of Loganville Police Department and joined the Lilburn Police Department in 1998 where he served the patrol division in various supervisor roles. 

In 2011, Cpl. Johnson was assigned as the Community Outreach Coordinator as part of his duties. Five years later, he became the department’s Community Outreach and Crime Prevention Coordinator.

Cpl. Johnson was designated as a Crime Prevention through Environmental Design practitioner (CPTED) through the Florida Institute of Crime Prevention. Cpl.  Johnson provides security assessments for various businesses and homeowners in the City of Lilburn. 

Cpl.  Johnson has served the citizens of Lilburn and Gwinnett County by coordinating such annual events as National Night Out, which has been nationally recognized for the past four years, and the DEA annual take-back program, which reduces the risk of expired or unused medication being abused.

The Lilburn Police Department also participates in the National Faith & Blue event where Lilburn-area houses of faith meet together to solve issues, fellowship, and serve our community, such as hosting blood drives with the American Red Cross.

Moreover, Cpl.  Johnson provides presentations on the latest scams affecting our seniors, Internet safety, and anti-bullying measures. He has provided presentations to local senior centers, churches, and Gwinnett County Schools in an effort to ensure a  safer community for everyone.

Finally, SCpl.  Johnson is a certified instructor who provides training to Lilburn police officers and for the Lilburn Citizen’s Police Academy. Cpl.  Johnson is also a certified Child Seat Car Technician and works with a team of police officers assisting in proper seat selection, installation, and safety of child car seats.
