Department Overview & Responsibilities
The Community Development Department helps guide Lilburn’s growth while preserving the charm and character that make our city unique. This department includes Planning and Business Services, working together to ensure thoughtful development, support local businesses, and uphold the city’s long-term vision.
- The Planning Division oversees land use, zoning, and development review. Staff work closely with residents, developers, and city leadership to implement the city’s comprehensive plan, review rezoning and variance requests, and ensure new projects meet local ordinances and design standards.
- The Business Services Division serves as a key point of contact for new and existing businesses. This team issues business licenses, coordinates inspections, and provides guidance on regulatory compliance.
