The City of Lilburn will commemorate the first holiday season at the new City Hall-Library with a special edition ornament. The new building, which opened on Oct. 18 at 340 Main St., is the home of Lilburn City Hall and the Gwinnett County Public Library's Lilburn Branch.
The ornament is a photo chemical etching in polished brass, plated with 14-karat gold. It was hand-made in the USA by ChemArt Company, which has been the sole producer of the official White House Christmas ornament since 1981.
The ornament is now available for purchase for $12 at the following locations:
- Lilburn City Hall, 340 Main St.
- Antiques in Old Town, 93 Main St.
Ornaments will also be sold during the Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade.
The City of Lilburn Tree Lighting will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29
in front of the Calvin Fitchett Municipal Complex, 76 Main St.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta will announce the winners of the city's holiday coloring contest, and the Lilburn Middle School Chorus will perform carols. After the ceremonial lighting, everyone will sing "O Christmas Tree" in unison.
This year's Lilburn Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, has nearly 100 entries, including traditional floats, classic cars, and festive costumes. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. in front of First Baptist Church of Lilburn and will proceed down Main Street to the Calvin Fitchett Municipal Complex, where there will be free professional photos with Santa and children's crafts after the parade. Main Street will be closed during the parade.
