Following a public hearing, City Council unanimously approved the 2017-2018 budget on June 12, 2017. The budget, which takes effect on July 1, funds major projects such as a new police headquarters and Camp Creek Greenway improvements.
The property tax rate is proposed to remain the same, 4.43 mills, and is scheduled to be adopted at the Council meeting on July 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Lilburn City Hall, 340 Main St. This budget includes a sanitation fee of $13.12 per month for each residential property owner.
FY 2017-2018 annual budgets for all funds:
- General Fund $7,657,971
- Confiscated Assets Fund $10,000
- Capital Projects Fund $1,527,228
- Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (2017 SPLOST) $2,047,106
Major expenditures:
- $2,800,000 for design and construction of the police and municipal court headquarters planned for US 29
- $929,228 for bridge replacement on the Camp Creek Greenway
- $897,618 for transportation projects, including road resurfacing, sidewalks, and downtown parking
- $400,000 for patrol vehicles and equipment replacement
