[ARCHIVED] Allies & Problem Solvers

Lilburn is fortunate to have allies in the challenging world of vision casting and problem solving.

Key among those are our Downtown Development Authority and the Lilburn Community Improvement District. Both entities are staffed with citizens who understand the needs and wishes of Lilburn citizens. Both exist by Georgia law and have quasi-governmental authority to own, develop, and improve a geographic area. Our areas are Old Town Lilburn and the Highway 29 corridor.

The substantial improvements in Old Town are a credit to our DDA. They have assembled properties and held them for a specific dream. Residential, restaurant and retail growth - all are in the works for Old Town. Properties we thought were eligible for razing [57 Railroad Avenue] will be transformed into a destination craft brewery, food hall, and retail. Other properties will be built from scratch to complement the Old Town personality.

Existing amenities in Old Town are benefiting from this growth. Our LCID consists of property owners in the Highway 29 corridor who have agreed to tax themselves, and through their board of directors make major improvements. They have added landscaping, pedestrian trails, additional security features, signage, lighting, and much more. Lilburn has attracted the attention of families, young professionals and folks just looking for fun. Together with City Staff and elected officials, we are “Rediscovering Lilburn!”
