Spring's Renewal
This month is about renewal of old things and new beginnings.
We look around with amazement as trees begin to show us every hue of green we can imagine. Flowers have been popping up for some time now. Outdoor activities are the norm as the weather has settled down a bit from the March craziness.
In this spirit of renewal, you may have been observing the beginnings of the makeover of Old Town.
By the time this goes to print, Main Street and Railroad Avenue west of town likely will have been showing signs of change. A project has been awarded to revitalize Old Town streetscaping and pedestrian crossings, add a four-way stop, lighting, landscaping. The first steps you have noticed are necessary to manage traffic and clear out the old to make way for the new.
All of this is a precursor to new beginnings that includes construction of retail space across Main Street from existing businesses on the west side of Main Street, along with sidewalks, curbs & gutters, and all the improvements listed in the paragraph above.
Additional properties at First, Main, and Velva streets are owned by the Lilburn Downtown Development Authority and have Requests for Proposals out to developers. The corner at First and Main is being reserved by the DDA for construction of a new restaurant.
The excitement for our Spring of Renewal is building. There will be much to rediscover in Lilburn in the coming months.
We are encouraged by your interest and involvement.
Thanks for all you do!
