Board & Commission Updates
The city welcomes and thanks those who volunteer to serve on our boards and commissions. Please welcome newcomers Pam Hart to the Merit Board and Amy Valdez-Barker to the Downtown Development Authority, who replaces long-time DDA board member Eddie Price. Price has served on the DDA Board since the body’s inception in May 2006. The city appreciates his dedication to the DDA and the community in general.
What They Do
- The Downtown Development Authority is a coalition of business leaders appointed by the City Council to assist with revitalization and redevelopment of the central business district and the Lawrenceville Highway U.S. 29 Corridor.
- The Planning Commission is established by local ordinance and conducts public hearings on land uses, zoning changes, proposed subdivision of property, and actions for consideration by the City Council. The Planning Commission also reviews and recommends changes in zoning regulations and future land use plans.
- It is the duty and responsibility of the Merit Board to represent the interest of the public in the improvement of personnel administration and the selection of qualified staff and personnel for the city.
