❄️ Who Treats the Roads During Winter Weather? ❄️
Road maintenance responsibilities are shared between the City of Lilburn, Gwinnett County, and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
- The City treats city-maintained streets inside the city limits
- Gwinnett County treats county roads
- GDOT treats state routes like Lawrenceville Highway
🔵 Please note: privately maintained residential streets (typically marked by blue street signs) are not treated by the city.

❄️ How Is the City Preparing? ❄️
With the potential for inclement winter weather this weekend, the City of Lilburn is actively preparing to help keep roadways safe.
PRE-TREATMENT:
🧂The City of Lilburn plans to distribute brine twice before Saturday afternoon.
🧂Brine is most effective on dry roads when rainfall does not dilute its effectiveness.
🚧 City of Lilburn Road Treatment
The City is responsible for city-maintained streets within incorporated Lilburn only.
Public Works will first treat residential streets and continue treatment on Camp Creek Road, Hillcrest Road, Main Street and Lilburn Industrial Way.
🧊 Deicer will be applied as needed if icing occurs.
⚠️ Important Safety Reminder
If you are able to stay home, we strongly encourage you to do so.
During last year’s winter weather event, more than 40 vehicles were towed after being abandoned on roadways in incorporated Lilburn. Abandoned vehicles create safety hazards and prevent crews from treating streets effectively.
❄️ How Can You Prepare? ❄️
•Charge phones and electronic devices
•Have batteries and flashlights available
•Keep blankets and warm clothing nearby
•Have prescription and essential medication, groceries and toiletries on hand
•Know your power company in the event of an outage
•Limit travel during icy conditions and stay home, if possible
•Make shelter available for pets
We encourage anyone who can stay home during winter weather to do so.
