Lilburn City Council member Emil Powella was sworn in by City Attorney Richard Carothers during Monday night's city council meeting. The 2020 Special Election was held on May 19 to fill the vacancy for Council Post 4. Council member Powella previously served on the Lilburn Planning Commission and the Lilburn Merit Board.
City of Lilburn 2020/2021 Budget
A public hearing was held prior to the adoption of the city's Fiscal Year 2020/2021 budget ordinance. The budget ordinance will be presented for adoption at a Special Called Meeting on June 22, 2020 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held via Zoom and information will be posted on the city's website at cityoflilburn.com prior to the meeting date. Community Development Block Grant Agreement
Lilburn City Council voted to approve a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Sub-Recipient Agreement between the city and Gwinnett County. The grant amount is $600,000 with 100% reimbursement and no required match. Funds will be used for sidewalks and safety improvements on Wynne Russell Drive and West Johns Road. Vote: 4-0
Multi-Jurisdictional Mitigation Plan approved
Council approved Resolution 2020-08 - Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This allows the City of Lilburn to include the physical corporate boundaries into the overall Gwinnett County Hazard Mitigation Plan. Vote: 4-0
Other Business
City Council approved Resolution No. 2020-09, which replaces Resolution 396-10. The new resolution updates the list of individuals authorized to deposit and/or withdraw funds from the local government investment pool on behalf of the City of Lilburn. Vote: 4-0
The Downtown Development Authority Member Appointment was tabled until the July city council meeting. Vote: 4-0
