The City Council heard on Monday the rezoning application for 46, 70, and 130 Killian Hill Road from R1, low-density residential, to R2, medium-density residential.  The applicant intends to combine portions of the three parcels resulting in 27.37 acres to be developed into a new subdivision with 145 detached dwellings.  Mayor Tim Dunn heard both those in opposition and favor of the application.  The Lilburn City Council approved the application for rezoning (RZ-2020-01) with conditions.  Vote: 4-0

Application for a Special Use Permit at 4098 Lawrenceville Highway to allow for a brewery

On Monday, the City Council heard the application for 4098 Lawrenceville Highway to allow for a brewery.  The property is currently zoned Commercial Business (CB) and is within the US29 Overlay.  The applicant intends to renovate the existing retail building site to develop a brewery, and in the future, provide outdoor seating and entertainment.  The Lilburn City Council approved the application for a special use permit (SUP-2020-04) with conditions.  Vote: 4-0

Amendment to the Lilburn City Code Ch. 6, Alcoholic Beverages, to provide for home delivery and to expand the definition of Brewery

On Monday, the City Council reviewed Ordinance No 2020-558, which amends Chapter 6, Alcoholic Beverages, in the City of Lilburn Code.  On August 3, 2020, Governor Kemp signed HB 879 into law, establishing a state law permitting the home delivery of unopened containers of alcohol under certain provisions as well as tasting events. The City's current policy on brewers and brewery licenses are out of date and need revision.  The intent is to provide for home delivery of alcohol by an authorized package retailer, which sells alcohol for consumption on the premises. It is also to expand the definition of brewery to include on and off-premise consumption and outdoor consumption. The Lilburn City Council approved the adoption of Ordinance 2020-558. Vote: 4-0
