Lease-purchase for Police/Courts

City Council approved financing for the new Lilburn Police/Court building through the Georgia Municipal Association’s Bricks and Mortar Program. This new building is a budgeted project that will be 100% funded through SPLOST, but those funds aren't immediately available. Financing through GMA with a lease-purchase agreement allows the city to take advantage of current construction costs, potentially saving 1 million dollars due to escalating construction and materials costs on the project. GMA provides low cost financing whereby the city pays back the financing amount in monthly installments. Vote: 3-0

Construction bid approved

BM&K Construction was awarded the bid for the construction of the new Lilburn Police Headquarters and Municipal Court. The city pre-qualified six firms/contractors to provide site work and construction services for the project. Bids were received from five of the six pre-qualified contractors, with BM&K being the lowest at $4,899,000. Construction is expected to begin this year with a construction period of twelve months. The new building will be located at 4572 Lawrenceville Highway. Vote: 3-0

Drive-thru windows allowed at package stores

Council approved an ordinance allowing drive-thru or service windows at package (liquor) store locations in the city. Businesses must have a canopy or roof structure over the windows and comply with overlay district. Vote: 3-0

Other Business

Ms. Angela Couch was appointed to serve as Municipal Court Assistant Solicitor to assist in specialized cases as approved by the Mayor and Council. Vote: 3-0.
The City of Lilburn will continue as a member of the Gwinnett Urban County Community CDBG program. Vote: 3-0
A proclamation for National Police Week 2018 was presented.
