Suk promoted to Sergeant at Lilburn PD

Family and city staff were in attendance for the promotional ceremony for Sergeant Suk of the Lilburn Police Department. After graduation from the police academy, Sgt. Suk joined the department in 2015. In addition to his regular job duties, he participates in numerous events throughout the community.

Geocache and commemorative items policies approved

Lilburn City Council approved a geocache policy for geocaches placed on property owned by the City of Lilburn. The policy provides guidelines and a permit application that apply to all existing and requested geocaches and geocache locations. Vote: 3-0

City Council also approved a policy regarding commemorative benches, bicycle racks, and flag poles. The policy identifies opportunities and provides guidelines for those wanting to honor an individual or group connected to the City of Lilburn. Vote: 3-0 

Zoning ordinance updates

Text amendments to the Lilburn Zoning Ordinance of 2011 were presented and discussed. A public hearing will be held in October regarding the proposed ordinance updates. 

Other Business

  • The following city events were announced: Lilburn Food Truck Tuesday, second Tuesdays in September and October, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Lilburn City Park, Community Yard Sale on September 28, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the greenway parking lot, and Lilburn Daze on October 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lilburn City Park.
  • An alcohol license for on premise beer, wine, and distilled spirits was approved for Mia's Banquet Hall, LLC located at 4800 Lawrenceville Hwy, Ste. 9a, 9 & Y1. Vote: 3-0
  • An alcohol license for on premise beer, wine, and distilled spirits was approved for Frida's Taqueria, located at 5514 Lawrenceville Hwy. Vote: 3-0
