A work session is held at 6:30 p.m., on the second floor of Lilburn City Hall, in the adjacent conference room, for council members to discuss business on the meeting agenda. The public is welcome at the work session.

The Downtown Development Authority is a coalition of business leaders appointed by the City Council to assist with revitalization and redevelopment of the central business district and the Lawrenceville Highway U.S. 29 Corridor Overlay District. DDA also serves as the board for the city's Main Street Program, an affiliate member of Georgia Main Street sponsored by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The Planning Commission is established by local ordinance and conducts public hearings on land uses, zoning changes, proposed subdivision of property, and actions for consideration by the City Council. The Planning Commission also reviews and recommends changes in zoning regulations and future land use plans.
