Parks Division

Division Overview & Responsibilities

The Lilburn Parks Division is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at Lilburn City Park. The team oversees daily operations, manages park amenities, supports public rentals and city-sponsored events, and works to ensure every visitor has a positive experience.

Staff members play a key role in preparing rental facilities by placing reservation signage, removing litter, replacing trash liners, and ensuring that all amenities are clean and functional. They greet renters, confirm reservation details, provide park policy information, and assist with setup needs, including access to utilities and cleaning supplies. At the end of each rental, attendants help with checkout procedures and document compliance with park guidelines.

The division also performs regular cleaning and sanitization of restrooms and splash pad facilities using EPA-approved disinfectants. This includes restocking supplies, wiping surfaces, deep cleaning on a weekly basis, and sanitizing drinking fountains. Grounds maintenance is another essential responsibility. Staff monitor and clean playgrounds, picnic areas, trails, grills, pet waste stations, and public spaces throughout the park, using tools like blowers to keep paths and structures clean and clear.

Trail upkeep involves daily patrols to remove litter, empty trash receptacles, inspect picnic spots, and identify any safety issues or obstructions. Park attendants also serve as friendly ambassadors, enforcing park rules, answering visitor questions, and partnering with the Lilburn Police Department to help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.

The Parks Division works closely with other city departments to support a variety of park functions. Staff assist the Events team with city-hosted events, coordinate with the Facilities Superintendent to maintain park buildings and features, and partner with Public Works to manage landscaping and routine maintenance. In collaboration with the City Police Department, they also help ensure safety and compliance with local ordinances.

In addition, the division maintains a certified National Playground Safety Inspector on staff to uphold the highest standards in playground safety. They also oversee contracted service providers for the repair, maintenance, and installation of playground equipment, splash pad features, and other park infrastructure.
